Art in Dialogue with Design

A site-specific collaboration exploring the relationship between contemporary art, refined interiors, and the quiet sophistication of Italian design.

FLEXFORM Miami

A Study in Balance

Created specifically for the Flexform Miami showroom, this collection of original works by Miami-based artist Politics responds directly to the architecture, materials, and atmosphere of the space.

Each artwork was conceived to complement its surroundings while maintaining its own distinct presence. Soft neutrals, layered surfaces, sculptural textures, and restrained contrasts create a visual dialogue with Flexform’s furniture and interiors.

Rather than competing with the environment, the paintings become part of it.

Art Created for the Space

The collaboration began with a close study of the showroom’s interiors—from the natural woods and refined textiles to the architectural lines and understated color palette.

Politics developed five original artworks for three distinct environments within the showroom. Each composition reflects the character of its setting while remaining connected through a shared visual language of movement, texture, and balance.

The result is an installation in which art and design feel inseparable.

Material, Movement and Restraint

The works combine dimensional surfaces with expressive gestures and carefully controlled palettes.

Ivory, limestone, taupe, warm earth, and charcoal tones echo the materials found throughout the showroom. Raised textures and sculptural details respond to changing light, allowing each painting to reveal new depth as the viewer moves through the space.

Every element has been considered—not only how the artwork looks, but how it lives within the room.

  • Limestone Horizon (46" x 60")

Inspired by the quiet elegance of natural limestone and warm architectural materials, Limestone Horizon was created specifically for the Flexform Miami showroom. Layered textures and a restrained palette of ivory, beige, and charcoal evoke a sense of balance and permanence, while the horizontal composition echoes the clean lines of the surrounding interior. Designed to integrate seamlessly with the space, the work invites moments of stillness, allowing light and texture to subtly transform its presence throughout the day.

  • Balanced Form (46" x 60")

Balanced Form explores the relationship between movement and stillness. Gentle sweeping lines flow across a textured surface, creating a quiet rhythm that guides the eye without overwhelming the space. A palette of warm ivory, sand, and natural earth tones reinforces a sense of calm, while the subtle vertical texture at the base adds depth and tactility. Designed to complement the surrounding architecture and furnishings, the work reflects the belief that balance is achieved not through symmetry, but through the thoughtful dialogue of form, material, and space.

  • Material Presence (46" x 60")

Material Presence explores the expressive power of form through simplicity. A single sculptural shape emerges from a textured surface, its warm ivory and earth tones reflecting the natural materials found throughout the showroom. The soft curved line introduces a quiet sense of movement, balancing the composition while emphasizing the relationship between solid form and open space. Designed to harmonize with its architectural surroundings, the work celebrates materiality, craftsmanship, and the understated elegance of contemporary design.

  • Quiet Current (46" x 60")

Quiet Current explores the subtle flow between structure and stillness. A softly defined vertical band introduces a quiet sense of movement, while textured earth tones anchor the composition with warmth and depth. The expansive field of light creates space for the eye to rest, allowing the work to breathe in harmony with its surroundings. Designed specifically for the showroom, the painting reflects the understated elegance of contemporary interiors, where balance is achieved through simplicity, material, and light.

  • Silent Axis (24" x 36")

Silent Axis explores the quiet power of simplicity. A single textured horizon gently divides the composition, establishing a sense of balance that is both architectural and contemplative. Layered tones of ivory and limestone reveal subtle variations in light and surface, allowing the painting to evolve throughout the day. Rather than drawing attention through contrast, the work invites reflection through proportion, texture, and stillness, embodying the timeless dialogue between contemporary art and refined interior design.
