The Lady in black and white was created with the concept of what butterflies represent (transformation, rebirth, fertility and hope). I wanted to create a sculpture that had the power to evoke emotions and inspiring viewers to reflect on their own journeys of transformation and hope.

The metamorphosis from one form to another is a powerful symbol of change and growth, reminding us that even in difficult times, we have the potential to transform ourselves and our lives. The lady in black and white uses organic and dramatic forms with flowing and strong lines all carved by hand in order to convey a sense of movement, strength, power and transformation, inviting viewers to contemplate their own potential for growth and renewal after a period of darkness or hardship.

The sculpture embodies hope in the form of the open palm reaching towards the sky to symbolize a sense of upliftment. The elegant dress conveys a sense of calm and serenity, inviting viewers to feel a sense of optimism for the future.

In conclusion I wanted to inspire us to reflect on our own journeys of growth and renewal, reminding us of the strength and resilience we can draw upon in difficult times. I hope viewers can remember to connect with their deepest emotions and to find hope and inspiration even in the darkest of times.
